Let me start with an apology, as I feel I should beg your forgiveness for the following bold-faced and shameless self-promotion blog post… so with that lame apology provided, here goes:
In conversations with hundreds of people over the past number of years I’ve worked at finding a way to introduce “the detox project” into the conversation so I could gather their feedback — well, it turns out that I annoyed enough people for long enough that my friends and family eventually called me on it and told me to quit bugging them and write a book, already… so I did.
Along the way, I was fortunate enough to attract the interest and collaboration of Gilles Paquet and together we developed a theoretical framework for our ideas and ultimately co-authored a book. Birthing this short book has been quite an interesting and educational process. Through the Detox Prism: Exploring Organizational Failures and Design Responses has just been published by Invenire Books; I’ve enclosed a PDF of a short summary and the Table of Contents that you can review to see what it is all about. It is available directly from Commoner’s Publishing website, and from Amazon.com in hard-copy and e-reader formats.
I hope you’ll take a moment to review the summary and Table of Contents, and perhaps even purchase a copy (or several) for that hard-to-shop-for loved one, your complete management team, or that special power-structure authority figure in your life. If nothing else, I can almost guarantee you that it will be a unique and truly unexpected gift for whomever you purchase it for!
Looking back, I know I benefited from every conversation along the way as they all helped me to better frame and explore these ideas. I hope you find the book engaging and thought-provoking. I’m looking forward to picking back up on these conversations in 2013!
