More (or less?) skills needed…

I came across this job/career article in the San Jose Mercury News which is definitely worth a quick spin through and some noodling about how it relates to you and your career (or job search). The headline grabber is about how many job seekers in the US are now finding that they can’t even qualify for their former jobs as those job requirements now state the need for a higher skill level. This is the inevitable result of a company’s relentless efforts to drive up productivity and profitability by combining roles together, and it really shouldn’t come as any surprise — in this day and age — that everyone needs to keep honing their skills, adding new skills & experiences to their toolkit.
